Within the scope of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to obtain information free of charge (Art. 15 GDPR) and to request the rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) of your personal data. SSL or TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as enquiries that you send to us as the site operator, this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address bar of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and by the lock symbol in your browser bar.
If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
3. Data collection on our website
Cookies
The websites use so-called cookies in some cases. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser.
We only use cookies that are technically necessary:
- Session cookie (name: PHPSESSID or rail_website): it serves security (protecting forms against misuse), logging in to the customer portal and temporarily storing an enquiry you have not yet sent. It is deleted as soon as you close the browser.
- Language cookie (name: rail_lang): it remembers the language you have chosen (German or English), so that pages without their own language version, such as the customer portal, appear in that language. It is deleted as soon as you close the browser.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when the browser is closed. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be limited (e.g. logging in to the customer portal is then not possible).
These cookies are stored on the basis of Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act); the data processed in the process is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free and secure provision of its services. We do not use cookies to analyse your browsing behaviour, to measure reach or for advertising purposes.
Server log files
The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Host name of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- IP address
This data is not merged with other data sources.
The basis for the data processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and in the security of its website; for this purpose the server log files must be recorded.
Contact form
If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your details from the enquiry form, including the contact details you provide there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. The details are delivered to us by e-mail; they are not stored further in the database of the website. We do not pass on this data without your consent.
The processing of the data entered in the contact form therefore takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time. An informal notification by e-mail to us is sufficient for this. The lawfulness of the data processing operations carried out up to the withdrawal remains unaffected by the withdrawal.
The data you enter in the contact form remains with us until you ask us to erase it, withdraw your consent to its storage, or the purpose for the data storage ceases to apply (e.g. after your enquiry has been fully processed). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.
Customer portal and enquiry form
If you create a customer account in the customer portal or request an offer via the enquiry form, we process the data you provide: company, name, e-mail address, your password (only as an irreversible hash value), the details of your enquiry (e.g. route, period, train data, remarks) as well as the associated offers and invoices.
The processing takes place to carry out pre-contractual measures and to perform a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, where required by law, to comply with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR, e.g. retention obligations under commercial and tax law). In connection with registration, password and enquiry we send you e-mails (e.g. a confirmation link). The data is erased as soon as the purpose ceases to apply and no statutory retention periods stand in the way.
We manage invoices and the associated customer data with the accounting software Lexoffice (Haufe-Lexware GmbH & Co. KG, Freiburg); invoice data is displayed to you in the customer portal.
Protection against misuse
To protect against misuse (e.g. automated login attempts or mass submissions via forms), we count logins, registrations, password resets and form submissions. In doing so, we store only an irreversible hash value of your IP address or e-mail address and the time; the entries are deleted after 24 hours. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (security of the website).
Service providers
For the operation of the website and for sending e-mails we use technical service providers (hosting, e-mail delivery) that work on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.
4. Embedded services and fonts
